Search interest in AI flight tools has surged over the past year, as travellers ask assistants to scan fares, compare dates and summarise options in seconds. Used correctly, AI search saves real time — but it works best alongside, not instead of, a proper fare comparison.
TheTravelValley's travel experts break down what actually matters, so you can plan with confidence.
AI tools are strongest when you ask them to compare a spread of departure dates rather than a single fixed day.
Treat the AI's answer as a shortlist; always confirm the actual fare and fare rules on the airline or TheTravelValley before paying.
AI is genuinely useful for translating confusing basic-economy or change-fee language into a quick yes/no answer.
Multi-city and open-jaw itineraries still benefit from a human travel expert who can spot routing tricks AI tools often miss.
Use AI for the first pass, then set a traditional fare alert to catch changes over the following days.
